Community Links

At Aylesbury Grammar School we maintain strong links with other schools and organisations both across the local community and further afield.

SIXTH FORM COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: Throughout the academic year our sixth form students in years 12 and 13 have the opportunity to complete a weekly volunteering placement working out in the community in either one of our local special schools (Stocklake Park, Harding House and Booker Park) or in a mainstream primary school. Annually this involves around 70-90 students, allowing them to work in areas in which they are interested in as a potential career option or simply with the intention of giving some time back to the schools and communities they have grown up in. They are all fantastic ambassadors for our school and we are never short of volunteers wanting to take part.

HARDING HOUSE MUSIC CLUB: This club runs in conjunction with the community involvement scheme mentioned above but also involves students from Aylesbury High School. The Music Club caters for students who attend Harding House special school and runs as a weekly music therapy session. Each term the club works towards putting on a short concert/showcase event of the music and songs they have been experiencing over the previous few weeks.

PRIMARY SCHOOL ENRICHMENT SESSIONS: During the Summer Term AGS staff in various subject areas give up their time to run primary enrichment sessions. Focusing mainly on Year 4 and 5 we welcome around 400-500 students from many of our most local primary schools for fun learning sessions based on subjects such as; Chemistry, Biology, Food Technology, Maths, English, Drama, Classics and PE. Students can work with equipment and techniques they may well not had the opportunity to experience in the primary school environment as well as gaining a small taster of what life is likely to be like when they move from Year 6 into 7.
