Online Safety

Aylesbury Grammar School works with staff, students and parents/carers to create a school community which values the use of new technologies in enhancing learning, encourages responsible use of ICT and follows agreed policies to minimise potential online safety risks.

We discuss, monitor and review our Online Safety Policy, advice and guidelines on a regular basis, linking it with other relevant policies such as Safeguarding, Pupil Behaviour and Anti-Bullying Policies. We support staff in the use of ICT as an essential tool for enhancing learning and in the embedding of online safety across the whole school curriculum

We ensure that students are aware of the potential online safety risks associated with the use of ICT and mobile technologies, and that students feel able and confident to report incidents and abide by the school’s Online Safety Policy and ICT Acceptable Use Policy.

We provide opportunities for parents/carers to receive e-safety education and information, to enable them to support their children in developing good, 安全的网络行为. The links below contain a wealth of information and guidance in the interests of keeping everyone aware and safe when online.

Online Safety Guides

The Online Safety Factsheet gives parents a general overview of online safety, the positive and negative aspects of the Internet, some key statistics, tips and useful links.

Online Safety and Social Media

The following guides and checklists will be useful when making the decision to allow children a little more freedom in their digital lives.

Sexting

It seems that there is a whole new language developing in the digital landscape. But while many are playful and literal abbreviations, some are more potent. To help raise awareness of some of these sexting abbreviations, we have compiled a short glossary. This is by no means exhaustive, but will help to educate parents about this new form of communication.

Gaming

Gaming is a favourite pastime for many students, but not without its own set of safeguarding considerations. This guide gives parents/carers some important information regarding age appropriate game ratings and online gaming.

Radicalisation

The internet brings marvellous opportunities to children and young people with the ability to learn new skills and visit websites which engage and enrich their lives. However, the internet also brings dangers such as online predators who will try and contact children through websites and software applications. This guide will help parents and carers learn more about the danger of their children being targeted by online extremists. The guide provides information to help them identify the issue of online radicalisation and gives suggestions on how to support their children with the threat of online extremism.
